Joe Byrd Podiums at Ballance Moto X
Union City, TN – April 28, 2010 – After a heated multi-lap battle at round number two of the 2010 AMA ATV Motocross Championships, Joe Byrd would take his first podium finish of the season at Ballance Moto X.
Track conditions were near perfect, but at the start of the first moto, Byrd was hindered due to getting dirt in his goggles that he was unable to remove. The dirt remained an issue for the entire moto as it disrupted Byrd’s vision, but the lucky number seven pressed on and finished in seventh place.
In moto two, Byrd swapped his goggles for a new pair and had no issues what-so-ever. Byrd was determined to get out front early and he did just that by grabbing the holeshot, with Josh Creamer and Thomas Brown on his heels.
Byrd and Creamer would battle feverishly for six laps before Byrd, who was still feeling a bit under the weather from being ill the week before, fell back to second; however, Byrd was not about to give up without a fight and pressured Creamer for several laps. Byrd’s solid second place finish in moto two was enough to put him on the podium in third place overall. "I am happy to be on the podium, but for the next round I am going for the win", stated the former two-time pro champ.
Round three of the 2010 AMA ATV Motocross Championship series is heading to Danville, VA on May 1st – 2nd where Birch Creek will play host and Joe Byrd will be in the hunt for the top spot on the podium.
