BUYING USED SHOCKS

Custom Axis Racing Shocks last a very long time, so it isn’t unusual for a set of our shocks to be installed on three or four different machines over the years. When looking at used Custom Axis shocks, the most important thing you should consider is whether or not they are the right specs for your application.

All Custom Axis Racing Shocks are 100% custom-built according the original customer’s specifications. If you get a great deal on a like-new set of shocks but they are 3 inches too short for your application, they will not work properly without being rebuilt to the correct specs. If you buy a used shock which is the right dimension for your machine but is set up for a rider who is 100 lbs. heavier than you are, it will need to be revalved and resprung. It is crucial that you take into account the condition, make and model they are built to, rider weight, and riding style before you decide to buy — as they will ultimately affect not only your final buying price, but more importantly the safety of you and your vehicle.

Our products are upgradable and can be retrofitted to other vehicle specifications by simply installing different length shock bodies and shafts, bushings, springs, etc. However, you need to figure the cost of these changes into your budget when you consider buying used shocks. Sometimes you may just be better off buying new shocks which will be optimized for you and your machine from the beginning.
